Hate speech on local radio

I'd think the majority of sg_ljers are not the target audiences for the Love 97.2FM DJ Dongfang Billy aka Billy Wang's radio show. But I see a need to call him out after hearing some uninformed and damaging things he said over in his show.

I was just sitting in the living room, reading the papers when I heard him start talking about "homosexuality is a choice" and if you "make this choice and not one that is for marriage and family, you must be prepared for the consequences". AND, he was saying how they're releasing a book on the "touching stories" of ex-gays. Plus, he states that "homosexuality is a direct result of lack of family morality teaching".

Thie asshat is poisoning the minds of many people, esp. the housewives and mothers [the target audience for his show], in Singapore. And I wonder where all the guilt and inability to cope with a GLBT kid OR the so-called "conservative public is not ready to accept homosexuals" come from -_-" Just because HE decided to experiment with homosexuality back when he was just a screwed up kid and decided to be 'saved', he thinks he's an expert on all these things? Bah fundie - he was also saying that alongside homosexuality, he's going to discuss abortion too [another one of those things which he attribute to poor morality teaching in the family].

I got so peeved I had to step away to my room. When I re-appeared again, he had gotten a so-called 'expert' from Taiwan. I didn't hear everything but I think I heard enough when the 'expert' says that '85% of homosexuals are unhappy and repressed'. Gah! Where does this so-called 'expert' come from? We have no idea about his affliations or background - and yet, he comes on and starts making such baseless assertions.

And the scary, evil thing about all this is he says all this in a soft, gentle, "I am trying to help" tone - the scariest form of hate and ignorance.

This DJ has never been shy about his own religious conversion and it appears that he is using religious rhetoric on a supposed secular public radio [and getting away with it over and over again - this is not the first time I've heard such things from his show].

Present MDA regulations will not help in stemming such hate from the radio, though DJs can still be sacked and stations fined for making lewd remarks which will supposedly corrupt the kiddos' minds [or fined for making any references that encourage "homosexual lifestyles"]

Just thought I need to get the word out so that more people can call him [and others like him] out on his ill logic.
